Here are some things to know about the Veteran yoruba Actress Iyabo Oko

 ~ The late Nigerian movie star was born on 15 November 1960, in iwo, Osun State. In 1973,she started her acting career as a teenager under the Eda Onileola Theatre Troupe ( Lets Paimo) before she later got popular for her role in the movie titled "Oko" produced by Oga Bello (Adebayo Salami).   

~It was gathered that the late actress ran away from home during her secondary school days because she wanted to join a theatre group. After some time, her father took her away from Baba Eda’s house. This incident happened twice.

~ Sadly, when she eventually became famous, her father died but her mother lived to witness her success as an actress in the Nigerian film industry. 

 

~ While working as an actress, she was able to complete her secondary school education. Iya Oko began her education at the Oke-Ola Primary School, Iwo, Osun State before she moved to Port Harcourt, her father’s military base. The actress later attended St. Andrew’s Secondary School. 

 

~ In 2015, she was diagnosed with an Ischemic stroke which made her take a break from the movie industry. Moreso, in 2022, her daughter announced she was dead after 3 hours it was confirmed that she was still alive. 

 

~In 2016, she was honoured with the Special Recognition Award at the City People Entertainment Awards for her contribution to the growth of the Yoruba Movie Industry.  

 

~ Asides from being in front of the camera lens, the late actress was also a filmmaker and a producer. 

 

~ Iyabo Oko was married to the talented actor, Tajudeen Akanmu fondly known as Koledowo. She was a mother of two children and a grandmother.

It was gathered that before her death, the actress had a long battle with stroke forcing her to take a break from acting. It was reported in 2021 that she died,  after 3hours she came back to life thereafter she has gone to rest finally .

'Eagle Wings' The Military themed movie, a first of its kind in Nigeria, was produced and directed by Paul Apel Papel in partnership with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Investments Limited, an investment arm of the NAF. Eagle Wings’ follows the story of an Air Force Fighter pilot who must navigate his way to safety amid an insurgency. It highlights the sacrifices of the military in combating insecurity and keeping the peace of the nation. The movie also explores the often tragic, yet thrilling mission in battling for life, peace, and freedom to love, in the face of great danger.

Speaking at the premiere, Papel recounted how the idea for the movie which he described as the biggest Nollywood Military collaboration was borne

“The defence headquarters sent for a meeting with Nollywood that they wanted us to put together a story of the military which has been negative prior, whereas these guys are going through a lot trying to secure the country

Continuing, he said “I had friends among the pilots, so it was easy for me to tell their stories. In this film, you will see why the insurgency is not giving up on the fight. Of course, if will give the military the kind of support they need, they will win

He added that the motion picture was shot on Arri film camera Open Gate 4444xq codec with Orion Anamorphic lenses. , “I now understand why American films look different from ours. The kind of instruments we used for this movie are sophisticated Shot in Maiduguri, Kaduna and Abuja, and Kanji, Lapel revealed that about N145m was spent in producing the film. “The money is much more than that because there was another support we got that is not quantified. On his part, nollywood actor Enyinna Nwigwe, who played the lead said the movie is a national treasure that tells the story of bravery, love and humanity. “The kind of support we got from the Nigerian Air Force was mind blowing, we filmed across different air force bases. I didn’t know they would be as supportive as they were. Giving us access to the equipment that we used, the fighter jets, automated rifles, and man power… It was amazing, without missing or losing any sense of security in the process.

The movie based on true events, stars Femi Jacobs, Enyinna Nwigwe, Yakubu Mohammed, Keppy Ekpeyong, Francis Duru, Uzee Usman, Paul Apel Papel, Funky Mallam, Saeed Mohammed, Patience Ujah among others. The late movie veteran, Sadiq Daba, also starred in the film, playing the role of the president of Nigeria.

Popular Nollywood actor Tayo Babatunde Bernard who recently talked about his upbringing revealed that he was born into the family of Major Adeyemi Samuel Tayo who hails from Orile Ilugun in Ogun state.

He said due to misunderstanding between his parents, they separated when he was in young. His mother had to drop him off at his father’s place in Orile Ilugun. He was placed in the care of his grandmother who took good care of him.

His mother, an Urhobo woman came back into his life after he lost his father about 19 years ago.

Sadly, he lost her too during the time he was trying to get to know her better.

In 2002, he made his Nollywood debut in a movie titled “14th of February”, written and produced by Paul Obasele.
